So, I have an ever-expanding wardrobe in my Gold Coast photography studio. I cull, but then it grows right back, sometimes it even doubles! Where do I find these eclectic, interesting and sometimes very intriguing outfits? Read on and find out my favourite places to find outfits for my photography studio wardrobe.
1 – Opportunity Shop
Never underestimate the outfits in a good second hand shop. They are usually well taken care of and always something exciting lurking in there. As a lot of my clients have some sort of theme in mind for their shoot, it is rarely something you can just buy. This is where an op shop comes in. You can be sure to be able to find exactly what you’re after in there.
2 – Marketplace
Who doesn’t love Facebook Marketplace. There is always something very cool in the miscellaneous category!
3 – Designer Consignment Shop
I love heading down to Designer Recycle at Arundel Plaza on the Gold Coast. Leanne always has the most amazing outfits there. I pick up a lot of evening gowns here, and she knows which ones to hold aside for me. As you can imagine with the name, this place is more high end than an op shop, but don’t let that fool you. There are still so many awesome treasure to find.
4 – Depop
Have you heard of this new selling platform? If you haven’t, best you jump on and check it out. There is a LOT on there. I have found a few unique pieces too. Designer. Preloved. Vintage. Streetwear. Sneakers. Whatever your style. Find it here.
5 – Hand Made
I love the challenge of making something unique for my client. Or getting it made, or even from Etsy. Of course, I still shop at regular stores, but I don’t want anything in my photography studio wardrobe that you can just buy anywhere!
So, there are my top 5 fave places to find unique, designer, one off, or just downright awesome outfits. I must admit that sometimes these places can get addictive. This is why my wardrobe has to go through a regular culling process.
